GRIEF is a 2D atmospheric game where players follow Wendy through an emotional journey of mourning inspired by the five stages of grief.
This project was made as part of the 2D Game Project class of my master's and came from a proposal to make a game to about the empathy. The idea was to make the player feel empathy towars the main character by making a game around their journey of mourning throughout the five stages of grief.
The main challenges were finding a way to turn each stage of grief into a level while having a consistent visual identity and giving it a story that matched the game's progression.
We decided that the levels would diferentiate themselves by the color pallete, sound and content. The story would follow the descriptions of the five stages of grief in the Kübler-Ross Model.
